Want to insert a course card image for one of your Open edX courses, so that your learners can easily distinguish between courses? Here’s how!
First, select a course within Open edX Studio. Then, within Settings in the top navigation bar, click on Schedule and Details.
Scroll down until you see the Course Card Image section.
If you have a course image already uploaded to your files and uploads area, you can paste the URL of the image here to add it as your course image. If you are uploading a new course image when one is already set, please ensure that you use a new file name! Using the same file name (such as courseimage.png) may result in your old course image remaining cached for some users and not updating.
If you do not have an image uploaded already, click on the Upload Course Card Image button on the right-hand side.
Select your image from your local folder and press Upload.
Don’t forget to hit Save Changes at the bottom of the window!
Check out your course in the LMS to see the change and check everything looks the way you want it to, and voila – you’re done!
Guidelines for course images
Your course images should ideally be:
- No larger than 1MB in size (if possible)
- Saved and optimized for web in .jpg or .png format
- Image aspect ratio of 16:9 (that’s 1920×1080, 384×216 or similar resolutions)
